Brows For Halloween?
October is in full swing and Halloween is right around the corner. Need some Halloween costume ideas? Instead of the traditional witch hat or cat ears, how about opting for a makeup-focused “costume” instead? Of course, we love the ones that feature awesome eyebrows, whether they’re on a deer face, Lucille Ball or part of a pop-art look. We’ve compiled a few ideas to get you ready for everyone’s favorite holiday for make believe and fantasy–Halloween.
With Eyebrows To Match
You’ll be everyone’s favorite deer with one of our favorite Halloween costume ideas. Start by applying white pancake makeup (try MAC Chromacake in Pure White) all around the eyes, including the nose, and above the brows, on the brow bone. Use cover up concealer starting on the cheek bone and going up all around the white to create the effect of the brown fur. To get the deer spots, take a thin brush with white makeup and make small eraser sized-spots around each cheek bone and three between the brows. Then, use brown shadow to contour the cheek bones and under the chin. Solidify the nose lines and the nostril area by using a gel eyeliner and angle brush. Darken your EYEBROWS also using a gel eyeliner and angle brush to get that wide-eyed deer look. Use white makeup on your nose between where you drew the eyeliner lines. Next you will use a thin eyeliner brush to line your lids and under eyes, creating a curvy, extra-large eye doe-eyed deer shape. Adhere false eyelashes to the upper eye lid and the lower eye liner line. As an added bonus, tie your hair in mini buns for ears and even add small tree branches as “antlers.” You will look fawn-tastic!
We Love Lucy
And Her Ginger Brows
Everyone’s favorite redheaded housewife, Lucille Ball, had a look all of her own. To get the “Lucy Look” start by applying neutral eye-shadow and contour the sockets for a deep-set eye look.. Use a deep-brown shadow and apply as eyeliner using a liner brush. Apply on the outer corner of the upper and lower lash line with a slight wing. Apply red-head brow powder to create those lovely ginger-colored, thin, arched EYEBROWS. Apply long, wispy natural looking false eyelashes to the upper eyelid, and emphasize the lower lashes with mascara. Apply a light foundation and concealer to get Lucille’s porcelain, flawless skin. Add light, rosy pink blush to the cheeks. For the final touch, overdraw big, red curved lips with a pencil and fill in with a bright red lipstick. We LOVE Lucy!
Scare the pants off your friends with this “Nightmare Before Christmas” inspired Pumpkin Skeleton. Paint your face white, avoiding your eye area. Don’t forget your ears! Color over your EYEBROWS and eyelids with solid black. Also using black face-paint, add dips and dents to your “pumpkin” by drawing light black lines down the forehead and onward below your eyes. Hollow out the cheeks by shading underneath your cheekbones. Apply dark black lipstick to your lips and draw on a pumpkin mouth with black paint. Draw the mouth out to just before the shading on your cheekbone. Widen the smile to come out farther than your actual mouth. Add cracks in the lip area with black paint. Fill in the nose shape black with black paint. Darken the cracks and shade the rest of the cheeks. Spook-tacular!
Our Pop-Art Favorite
Big, Bold Brows
Create a Roy Lichtenstein pop-art lookalike with another one of our favorite Halloween costume ideas. Begin by completely blackening your EYEBROWS (use liquid eyeliner for easy application) to create BIG bold eyebrows. Highlight the area under the brow with a highlighter pencil or white shadow. Draw lines down and around your nose. Outline your hairline, ears and jawline with a black line. Next, outline your lips in black. Cover eyelids with a vibrant, sparkly eyeshadow and line the upper and lower lids and lid crease to create a dramatic cat-eye look. Apply false lashes and paint your lips bright red. And last, but not least, paint eraser-size red dots all over your face with red face-paint.
Sugar Skull From Day Of The Dead
Turn Your Brows Into Circles
Pay homage to the “Day of the Dead” by making yourself up as a Sugar Skull. Create a blank canvas on your face with creamy foundation. Contour cheeks with brown eye shadow. Draw thick black circles around your EYEBROWS and eyes with eyeliner pencil. Create sunken eyes with dark purple and black smudged eye shadows inside the circles. Highlight lid area with sparkly purple shadow. Use cake eyeliner and an eyeliner brush to paint on petals around the eye circles and color in with light green shadow. Blacken your nose and draw a web on your forehead. Draw a flower and leaves on your chin, Apply several shades of purple lipstick and create a “smile of stitches” with eyeliner and you’re ready to knock ’em dead.
